Egy néző vallomása
(Egyik kedves egri nézőnk levelét közöljük:)
Furcsa érzésekkel mentem el a Halottaskönyv előadására. Vonzott és taszított, hiszen találkoztam már a halállal, az örökre elvesztés fájdalmával, úgy is mint magára hagyott gyerek, úgy is mint itt hagyott szülő, úgy is mint elárult, elárvult barát. Kell nekem az ismételt, az enyhülni alig tudó fájdalom? Nem igazán ...
Két szereplő s nem fog elhangzani egyetlen szó sem, fizikai színház. Csak mozgás, fény, zene. Nyomasztó kíváncsiság...
És az előadás... Picinyke színpad testközelben. Szinte benne ültem és alanya lettem az eseményeknek. Éreztem testem haldoklását, segítőim biztatását... csak menj és ne félj, hiszen ez nem a vég, hanem a végtelenek sorában a következő mozzanat. A kövek mint karmák, végig ott voltak.... Súlyuk vitt lefelé, sötét mélységek felé. Nyomasztott és fájt, fájt az egymáshoz koccanása, fájt a tisztára mosása, fájt a koppanása. Fájt a beszorított levegő... innen tovább már valóban nincs.... Kiszabadulásra várakozó pillanatok. A testi kínokat elcsitító béke és nyugalom. Sima és fényes, mint az alig fodrozódó víztükör, amely élvezi saját testének csituló és megszűnő mozgását. Vittek valahová, alig érzékeltem a múló időt. Az utolsó pillanatban, amikor már azt hittem megszűntem, éreztem egy megkönnyebbülést, egy levegős mosoly feloldozott.
Az egész előadás elragadott, szinte beszippantott. Így utólag nem is értem, nem hangzott el egyáltalán egy szó sem, mégis értettem. Sok minden megváltozott bennem. Önző módon magammal foglalkozom. Lelki nyugalomra, örömre, békére vágyom, mint az egyik jelenetben, ahol összetalálkoznak, akik valamikor az elmúlt életükben már társak voltak.
A szerzetesek esernyős jelenete is sok mindenről szólt, legalábbis nekem. A keleti emberek életfelfogása, a bölcs nyugalom, a türelem, az elfogadás, a megpróbáltatások mint az élet velejárói, a hit, a jövőbe vetett bizalom, a békesség, az örökkévalóság érzete..., és szinte furcsállom, de a bőség érzetét is hozta, vagyis a lelki gazdagságot, a folyamatos boldogsággal teli örömállapotot. Nekem erről szólt ez a jelenet.

The audience is greeted by a band composed of young people. Two chellos, a guitar, drums and songs – in english. We are in Budapest, but we could be anywhere, in any big city of the world. We are struck by the smell of boundless youth and liberty. >>

By definition, physical theatre builds upon the actor’s body and motions instead of words. When we watch the performance made from the Tibetan Book of the Dead, which counts itself in the former category, we can be witnesses to the translation between writing and motion. But that’s just raising a hypotethical question, since the production of Csaba Formanek, Lénárd Ilyés and Ádám Pignitzky throws in our faces the issues of dying, with the help of three stories. >>

Although the title hints at the Tibetan Book of the Dead, as the creators point it out in the subhead (Physical theatre performance inspired by the Tibetan Book of the Dead), that work was just a starting point. Truly, this Book of the Dead isn’t exclusively nor principally about death. Or if it is, it’s that in a much broader sense, than we usually think about it. It’s much more about the circle of life, the shifting of the phases of life, about the constant leave-taking and arriving which fills our lives. Anyway, it’s such a performance, that you can’t really say, that it’s about something overall, because individually it is more than usually affected by in which life-phase the viewer is in, what kinds of goodbyes or encounters are past or before them, or how close are they feeling themselves to this (almost) wordless, deliberately slow and meditative physical theatre. >>
